Sin - Greed ()
Piece #1
For my first Piece, I wanted to start out with the sin greed. It was my first idea to come to mind so I immediately started to sketch it out. Since greed is mostly represented with money, I wanted to in corporate it into my piece. My idea is supposed to represent how the girl is feeling and how all she wants is money. I wanted the girl to be taking a bath in money to show that she is rich and basically do what ever she wants with the money. The hardest parts of my piece was how small my canvas was. Trying to add the smallest detail into the dollar bills was very difficult and same goes for the girl. I used acrylic paint for this piece because I thought would be nice for a little bit of texture. I really like using this medium because it dries easily and doesn't blend when you try to add another color unless you need it to. I didn't stick with my original for this piece because I wanted to the focus to be more on the girl and the money and I thought it would have been to much to add a rug under the tub and it wouldn't be very realistic if I did add it. In the future I'm going to try to make my piece a little more realistic so I don't have to keep changing my ideas when I am starting another piece!
Sin - Envy ()
Piece #2
This second piece, I used the sin envy. I used medusa in this piece, I feel she really represents envy because she used to be a very beautiful women. In this piece she is jealous of the person on the other side which is the viewer, and breaks through the mirror to turn someone into stone. My idea is supposed to represent how jealousy can take over a person and try to ruin other for what they have, in this case it was beauty. The hardest parts of my piece was the mirror and the snakes. I've never painted a mirror before so it was a little challenging. For the snakes, I was debating on if I should put details in them but I didn't want them to take way from the mirror and medusa. I used oil paint for this piece because I wanted this piece to be smooth and I was thinking it would look really nice for the mirror. It was fun using this medium but I know I need more practice.
Sin - Patience
Piece #3
For my third piece, I wanted to use the sin patience. I wanted to use a girl and a flower to show that the girl is waiting on this one flower to bloom. My idea is supposed to represent how you should always be patient no matter what. The hardest parts of my piece was the girl. Trying to do the body and fixing the dress was different because I never have tried to draw a dress until now. I drew this piece digitally because I wanted this piece to look more of a cartoon then real life. I really like doing digitally there's so many things you can do with the brushes and you don't have to wait until its dry to start on it again. I also wanted to this piece digital because I thought it fit better with my idea and how I waned this piece to look. In the future I'm definitely going to try to learn to do more digital art.
Sin - Temperance ()
Piece #4
This forth piece, I used the sin temperance. I used man and a skeleton in this piece. I wanted to show what the alcohol is doing to him and what its making him feel. My idea is supposed to represent two sides, one being the skeleton representing that the alcohol is killing him inside and the other being the man showing how he feels on the out side and on the inside. I also wanted to show the way the alcohol is killing by making the background look like his head it spinning and adding the bubbles to show the alcohol is drowning him from the inside. is The hardest parts of my piece was my idea but I'm happy the way it came out. I used watercolor as the medium because it shows more of the colors fade together and makes it looks more like he is drowning. I also used a white gel pen to show the highlights of everything. In the future I going to try to focus on getting shadows right because I feel like that it is little difficult for me to know where they are.
